Manzoufas is the new programming head at ABC; Matei becomes VP of production at SBS; and A&E vet LaPolla takes post of VP of program planning and acquisitions.

Marena Manzoufas has been named head of programming at the Australian Broadcasting Corporation. Manzoufas was formerly general manager of Beyond Distribution.

Joseph LaPolla has been named VP of program planning and acquisitions at A&E Network. A 12-year veteran of A&E, LaPolla most recently held the position of VP of scheduling, acquisitions and digital programming for A&E’s sister network, The History Channel.

Granada Content has appointed Duncan Gray to the post of creative controller of entertainment, formats and development, and will lead the new development initiative, ‘Hothouse’. As well, Malcolm Allsop is now contoller, format sales and acquisitions for Granada Content. Gray joined Granada Television in 1998 as controller of entertainment.

Pan-European broadcaster, SBS has appointed Daniela Matei to the post of VP of production. Matei was previously the CEO of Romanian production/distribution company Creative Vision International.

Broadcaster TvDanmark has appointed Bjarne Bo Berthelsen to the post of program director. He succeeds Paul Gazan, who leaves in early November. Danish producer Berthelsen previously worked for pubcaster DR-TV.

Vince Porter has been promoted to the post of VP, production, at Showtime Networks. He previously held the post of director, production.

National Geographic has named Ann Blakey VP of business development.

Tribune Entertainment has promoted Ben Knezovic to the post of director of advertiser sales. He has been with the company since 1998.

Court TV has named Evan Shapiro VP of marketing.

Michael Nissenblatt was named senior director of programming at Comcast Cable Communications Inc.

Patty Sins has been named director of marketing for Fox News Channel. She previously held the same post at CBS Cable.

Author and broadcaster Irshad Manji has been named executive producer for the Canadian digital channel, One: the Body, Mind & Spirit channel. Manji was previously the producer and presenter of Toronto-based Citytv’s Queer Television.

David Moss was appointed CEO for Canal Plus Technologies.

Tim Bellamy has assumed the role of VP and general counsel for TechTV.

A couple of promotions at E! Networks: Cindy House, VP affiliate marketing, has been promoted to the post of VP, affiliate relations; and Mary-Jo Matava has been promoted to director of local ad sales from her post as manager.
