Channel 4 International appoints a new head of copros and sales; the Sheffield fest loses its director; Discovery's VP of daytime programming retires.

Barbara Bellini-Witkowski has been appointed director of coproduction and sales at Channel 4 International, the distribution arm of U.K. broadcaster Channel 4. Bellini-Witkowski will be joined by former C4I programming exec Richard Life, who has been promoted to the role of head of factual coproduction. Anne Roder-Botbol, former head of sales for U.K. factual distrib TVF, has also joined C4I as a senior sales exec, responsible for financing and coproduction in Germany and France.

Kathy Loizou, director of the Sheffield International Documentary Festival since 1996, is leaving to pursue other interests. A successor has not yet been chosen.

Chris Valentini, formerly of Unapix, has joined Tremendous! Entertainment as COO and VP, production. Kathrine Anderson Cicala, formerly of California-based Termite Art Productions and Discovery Communications, also joins Tremendous! as director of business affairs.

Chuck Gingold, senior VP/GM of daytime programming for Discovery Communications, will retire this month.

Bruce Lefkowitz, former VP of ad sales at Discovery Networks U.S., joins the Fox Cable Networks Group as exec VP of ad sales, entertainment. Lefkowitz will oversee ad sales for FX and National Geographic Channel.

London-based Gisela Cummins-Minnbergh has been promoted to the position of senior sales exec for Southern Star Sales, and will continue to be responsible for selling Southern Star’s program catalog to Scandinavia, Benelux, Spain, Italy and Portugal. Cummins-Minnbergh joined Southern Star in 1999 and formerly worked in international sales and special events production for U.K. news producer Independent Television News (ITN).

Chatsworth Television Distributors of London has employed a new sales and marketing team. Cynthia Kennedy, previously of Link Entertainment and CINAR, has been appointed head of international sales & acquisitions and is joined by Rebecca Channon, formerly of Pepper’s Ghost Productions, who takes the post of sales & marketing executive.

Clare Kumahor has been appointed sales manager, specializing in Northern European territories, for London-based Zeal Television. Kumahor most recently worked as a senior sales exec at Target Distribution.

Lisa Wookey has been promoted to the post of director, marketing and client services, for Toronto-based CHUM Television International. Wookey joined CHUM in 1996.
