ITN fills a new role; former MTV exec starts a prodco; BBC America welcomes new VP of programming

Mark Wood has accepted the newly created role of full-time chairman at ITN. Wood has held the title of non-executive chairman at ITN since1998. He also worked at Reuters as a senior executive, a post he now exits. Under the new title, Wood will develop ITN’s international, documentary and video businesses.

Bob Kusbit, a former MTV production executive, has set up his own production company, which will develop reality programs, talk shows and game shows. The prodco, named One Lounder Productions, has already secured a two-year contract to develop the formats for U.S. network NBC.

David Bernath, former VP of program planning for E! Entertainment Television in Los Angeles, U.S., has joined BBC America in Washington D.C. as VP of programming.

The Public Broadcasting Service in the U.S. has reorganized its senior management. A new Interactive Learning division, to be headed by senior VP Cindy Johanson, includes PBS interactive, TeacherLine, TeacherSource, and Digital Content Planning. The unit is charged with building PBS’ internet initiatives as they relate to education. A second newly formed unit, titled Brand Management, Promotion and Media Relations, will consolidate several media relations offices. Headed by senior VP Lesli Rotenberg, it oversees Program Press Relations, Education and Online Communications, Viewer Services and Special Events. PBS will also establish a new Management Committee of senior staff. The committee will be an informal, ‘kitchen-table’ group that will meet several times a year, a PBS spokesman told RealScreen.

Toronto-based Alliance Atlantis Communications has announced the departure of W. Judson Martin from the post of executive VP and chief financial officer. Martin leaves November 1, to become president and CEO of a cross-border real estate investment trust. Rita Middleton, senior VP of corporate finance, is assuming the position’s responsibilities until a replacement is found.

At the Starz Encore Group in Englewood, U.S., Jilliana Wachendorf has been promoted to senior VP of marketing from her previous post as senior VP of affiliate marketing Mike Hale has resigned from his position as executive VP and chief marketing officer, to pursue philanthropic work.
