U.S.-based MacGillivray Freeman Films, Artisan Home Entertainment and National Geographic have partnered with Microsoft to release HD DVDs created using Windows Media Video High Definition. WMV HD adopts the compression tech used for digital video streaming to deliver 1080p video rez. Each DVD comes with two discs, one in HD and 5.1 surround sound, the other in standard def. 'This introduces it to consumers,' explains Patty Collins, MFF's manager of sponsorship and promotions.
