Senior VP communications named for OWN

Disney/ABC Television Group’s former senior VP of entertainment communications is moving over to Discovery to work for OWN: The Oprah Winfrey Network.

Nicole Nichols has been named senior vice president of communications and strategy for the new network, which is due to launch in 2009, and will report to OWN President Robin Schwartz.

‘One of the most respected communications professionals in the industry, Nicole brings a diverse set of skills to OWN, which range from an unparalleled strategic vision to a remarkable talent for implementing a strong corporate image, all of which will be invaluable to our mission,’ said Schwartz. ‘Nicole shares our goal to make OWN a multi-platform venture designed to empower, entertain and uplift.’

Nichols was responsible for strategic communications for five business units at Disney/ABC Television Group since 2005. Prior to joining Disney/ABC she worked at Fox Family Worldwide.
