Discovery’s Oprah Winfrey Network has named Jamila Hunter as the new head of programming for the channel. When Hunter begins her new role on June 10 she will report to OWN CEO Christina Norman and will oversee programming for the network, which is set to launch next year in place of Discovery Health. Prior to joining OWN, Hunter worked at NBC where she was senior VP of alternative and digital programming. While at NBC, Hunter worked on the rebrand of Bravo, launching series such as Project Runway and Queer Eye for the Straight Guy. She was instrumental in the creation of NBC’s alternative strategy when the network launched series such as Fear Factor, Last Comic Standing and The Apprentice.
