Doc-makers make the grade to join Motion Picture Academy

Among the 134 new members invited into the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences (AMPAS) are seven doc filmmakers. They are: William Gazecki (Waco: The Rules of Engagement), Rachel Grady (Jesus Camp), Rory Kennedy (Ghosts of Abu Ghraib), Scott Hamilton Kennedy (The Garden), James Marsh (Man On Wire), Megan Mylan (Smile Pinki) and Doug Pray (Surwise). They and the other new members, who will be officially inducted in September, will have nominating and voting rights for all future Oscar ceremonies, beginning with next year's.
