UKTV acquires ‘MasterChef Australia’

UKTV has acquired MasterChef Australia from Shine International for its channels Watch and Good Food. The program, which was originally produced by FremantleMedia Australia for Network 10 is the highest rating non-sports program in Australian history with 4.11 million viewers Down Under. The Australian spin-off of the BBC2 series will premiere on Watch in January 2010 and will debut on Good Food in May 2010. The deal was negotiated by UKTV acquisitions executive Nicki McDermott and Shine International's JC Mills.
