ITV1 in the UK has commissioned a new entertainment format from ITV Studios Global Entertainment, set to air this spring. The Door pits six celebrities against myriad challenges designed to ‘bring them face to face with their fears and assault all their senses,’ according to ITV Studios. ‘For the brave celebrities that take part, The Door is a terrifying prospect that asks one simple question – do they have what it takes to face what lies behind the door?’ says Richard Cowles, head of factual entertainment at ITV Studios, UK. ‘We have created a world with just one thing in mind – frightening the living daylights out of our cast. It is in turn scary, surreal and laugh out loud funny.’ The format was created by Cowles as well as Natalka Znak, controller of factual entertainment for ITV Studios who will be heading to RDF USA in April, and deputy head of fact ent for the company, Beth Hart.
