This year’s Sheffield Doc/Fest takes place from November 3-7, but in 2011, the UK doc festival will be slated for June 8-12. ‘Sheffield Doc/Fest is an outstanding UK and international success story,’ said Doc/Fest chair Steve Hewlett. ‘Over the past four years delegate attendance has risen from 500 in 2005, to 1,885 in 2009 but the fact remains that the autumn calendar is very crowded with major documentary festivals all falling within weeks of each other. By moving to June, Sheffield Doc/Fest can engage more meaningfully with the industry, and at the same time broaden its reach with local audiences.’ This year’s edition will feature a slew of top docs (Marwencol, The Kids Grow Up, 12th and Delaware and Sons of Perdition are among the films already billed to screen), while the MeetMarket component of the fest will also include crowd-funding projects and specialists.
