Royal Television Society appoints new president

The Royal Television Society (RTS) has announced the appointment of media consultant and former Endemol chief creative officer, Peter Bazalgette, as the new RTS President. Also elected to the Board of Trustees are Caroline Thomson, the BBC's chief operating officer and Mike Darcey, chief operating officer for BSkyB, who has been elected chair of the board. The changes follow the death of Sir Robert Phillis, in December, who was both president and chair of the Board of Trustees. The Royal Television Society is Britain's leading forum for television and related media which holds lectures, events and awards shows for the industry.
