As we prepare for the 2010 edition of MIPCOM, we’re also ramping up for the much buzzed about Branded Entertainment Forum which takes place in New York City on October 25th.

It’s no secret that more and more non-fiction programming is advertiser-funded and as this trend shows no sign of abating, we decided that now was the time to bring together producers, client marketers and content distributors for a day of inspiration, dialogue and networking.

Our advisory board chair, Ogilvy Entertainment president Doug Scott, has gone above and beyond the call of duty enlisting an advisory board that’s a veritable who’s who in the branded entertainment space. Board members are: Dean Baker, managing director, JWT Entertainment, JWT London; Michael Davies, president, Embassy Row; Cameron Death, SVP & general manager, NBC Universal Digital Studio; Carolyn Everson, corporate vice president, global advertising sales & trade marketing, Microsoft; Olivier Gers, CEO, Endemol Worldwide Brands; Jae Goodman, chief creative officer, Creative Artists Agency; Jon Kamen, chairman & CEO,; Kevin McAuliffe, VP branded entertainment group, NBC Universal Cable Entertainment; Guy McCarter, managing director, Green Room Entertainment, OMD USA; Evan Shapiro, president, IFC tv & Sundance Channel and Peter Tortorici, CEO, GroupM Entertainment.

With their insight we’ve developed a program designed to deliver leading-edge strategies and best practices for the development and production of unscripted/factual brand funded entertainment. Full details are available at We do expect to sell out, so if you are considering registering, don’t hesitate.

Simultaneously we are in the throes of developing the content for the 13th edition of the Realscreen Summit set for Washington, D.C., January 31 – February 3, 2001. Once again content is being steered by our A-List advisory board, which is for the second year running, chaired by Nancy Dubuc, president and general manager of History and Lifetime, and Howard T. Owens, managing director of Reveille. The board is populated with incredible thought leaders from the broadcast, cable and production sectors, including Robert DeBitetto, president and general manager, A&E Network and BIO Channel; David Goldberg, chairman, Endemol North America; Stephen Lambert, chief executive, Studio Lambert; Peter Liguori, chief operating officer, Discovery Communications; Jeanne Newman, partner at Hansen, Jacobson, Teller, Hoberman, Newman, Warren & Richman, LLP; Craig Piligian, president, CEO and executive producer, Pilgrim Films & Television; John Saade, SVP Alternative Series, Specials & Late Night Programming, ABC Entertainment Group and Steve Schiffman, President, National Geographic Channel and Nat Geo Wild.

With their input, your 2011 Summit promises to deliver meaningful content that will help you drive your business. Check this space for more updates in the November issue.

’til next time, go well
