DOC NYC’s inaugural film festival, running November 3 to 9, will have a world premiere screening of Bruce Springsteen & the E Street Band’s new concert film, Darkness on the Edge of Town and will launch Moments of Truth, a series of shorts featuring famous people describing the documentaries that impacted them. The first spot of the promo campaign features actor Alec Baldwin talking about the Rolling Stones documentary Gimme Shelter and during DOC NYC, David Van Taylor of Lumiere Productions will be filming other testimonials. DOC NYC will also feature the world premiere of The Road to Carnegie Hall, directed by Stephen Higgins, which follows the quest of musicians who’ve auditioned on YouTube for the chance to participate in the YouTube Symphony Orchestra performance at Carnegie Hall. The November 7 screening of that doc will be followed by a live performance by cellist Joshua Roman. The event has also announced an Orphan Film Symposium on NYC, a curated audio documentary program and a tribute to filmmaker and historian Kevin Brownlow. The rest of the line-up can be found at www.docnyc.net.
