AETN UK has appointed Adam MacDonald, most recently with IWC Media as a creative director and exec producer, to be its VP of programming. Reporting to managing director Tom Davidson out of AETN UK’s West London office, MacDonald will oversee commissioning, acquisitions and scheduling for the company’s roster of factual channels, including History, Bio, Crime & Investigation Network, their HD counterparts and Military History in the UK, Ireland, Africa, the Middle East, Greece, the Benelux, Scandinavia and Central Europe.
Prior to his time at IWC Media, he had a two-year stint as controller of daytime and digital factual at ITV, and before that, served as head of daytime at Channel 4 from 2004 to 2007, during which he commissioned such hits as Come Dine With Me and Deal or No Deal. He’d also worked as director of development at Lion TV, and began his career at the BBC, where he worked from 1988 to 2002.
MacDonald will begin the newly-created position at AETN UK in early January of 2011.
