This is a coming-of-age story, concerning both its three main subjects, conservative teens Ben, DJ and Nick, and the United States of America itself. The teens are all high school class presidents, with dreams of entering political life (and office) upon graduation. But as the nation approaches a critical juncture in its own history – the election of its first black president – the boys also face crossroads in their own life paths.

Justin Anderson joined Realscreen as senior staff writer in 2021, reporting and writing stories for the newsletter and magazine.
