London-based distributor MercuryMedia International has appointed Caitlin Meek O’Connor as its head of sales and acquisitions.

Meek O’Connor is a former BBC commercial exec with a background in international sales honed at UK distributor DRG. She will be charged with spearheading Mercury’s drive into factual sales, building on its established documentary distribution business.

“I have been aware of Mercury’s terrific reputation for some time and I am really attracted by the opportunity to help grow its traditional and digital revenues,” said Meek O’Connor.

MercuryMedia CEO Tim Sparke added: “Caitlin’s breadth of experience, tenacity and sales acumen matches our need to recruit a proven distribution professional.”

Meek O’Connor replaces Calum Gray, who leaves Mercury later this month “to focus on career opportunities within the feature film business,” according to Sparke.

Gray’s exit comes two months after he was promoted to the head of sales and acquisitions position, having taken over from Patricia Hickey following the latter’s previously reported departure in March.
