Allan Novak (pictured), the former VP of factual and reality at Toronto’s Temple Street Productions, has teamed up with producer/director/writer Barri Cohen to form a new prodco.
The new prodco will be aimed at creating innovative, transmedia content for TV, mobile and the Web.
Novak, during his stint with Temple Street, oversaw such productions as Canada’s Next Top Model, and sold the competitive reality series and format Recipe to Riches to Shaw Media and Canadian grocery chain Loblaw. Prior to that, Novak’s Indivisual Productions created Loving Spoonfuls as well as the hybrid comedy/reality series Punched Up, and The Joke’s On Us: 50 Years of CBC Satire, hosted by Leslie Nielsen, among other projects.
Barri Cohen has served as a writer, producer and director of assorted documentary one-offs, specials and factual series. She was series and creative producer on Frantic Films’ The Opener, a series producer on the first season of Slice’s Revamped and also worked on W’s Crimes of Passion and Discovery Health’s Situation Critical.
The pair plans to develop new shows in the factual, reality, drama and comedy genres for the Canadian, American and international markets.
