Discovery brings Perrette aboard as digital chief

Discovery Communications has named Jean-Briac “JB” Perrette, most recently with NBCUniversal as president of digital and affiliate distribution and content distribution strategy, as its chief digital officer.

Perrette will lead the company’s digital strategy, including Discovery’s U.S. websites, interactive technology, its digital operations and programming group, and will also lead distribution efforts with non-traditional affiliates such as Apple, Netflix and Amazon. He will also be responsible for Discovery Commerce, including licensing and home entertainment divisions as well as footage and music services.

At NBCUniversal, Perrette played a leadership role in developing the digital video joint venture Hulu and also oversaw North American distribution of film and video across digital platforms.

The hiring reunites Perrette with Discovery Communications president and CEO David Zaslav, who had served as president of cable and domestic TV and new media distribution at NBC Universal prior to moving to head up Discovery in January 2007.
