London-based prodco Wag TV has officially announced that former National Geographic Channel director of development Shannon MaloneĀ is heading up its new Washington DC office as VP of development.

Malone, who has also worked in production at NGC and Discovery Networks, will drive the company’s expansion in the United States. Wag is behind series such as How Do They Do It?, Ancient X-Files, X-Machines and Factory Lines.

“We make most of our shows for U.S. broadcasters so it makes sense to build a base there. Shannon is well-known and much admired in the industry so she’s a real catch,” said Wag managing director Martin Durkin. “She will be driving aggressive expansion in the U.S. for us.”

“I’m thrilled to have joined such a remarkable and creative team,” said Malone. “I’ve known Wag TV for years and truly look forward to expanding their footprint even further in the U.S. marketplace.”
