Tricon moves “Metal” globally

The documentary series from heavy metal experts Banger Films has been sold into numerous markets in the UK, Europe, South America and Asia.

Tricon Films & Television has sold Metal Evolution, an 11 x 60-minute series chronicling the history of heavy metal music, to numerous markets in the UK, Europe, South America and Asia.

Networks picking up the Banger Films production include Sky Arts in the UK , ABC in Australia, NRK in Norway, SVT in Sweden, YLE in Finland, ACHT in Belgium, Globosat in Brazil and True Visions in Thailand.

The series, a realscreen MIPCOM Pick from 2011, premiered on U.S. cable net VH1 Classic and Canada’s MuchMoreMusic in November. It features such modern metal luminaries as Slash (pictured with series host Sam Dunn, left), Metallica and Alice in Chains, as well as legendary rockers such as Alice Cooper and Deep Purple.
