London-based October Films is set to produce Emergency Abroad, an observational documentary series going behind the scenes in Mallorca and Ibiza’s busiest hospitals, for Sky 1 HD.

The 11 x 60-minute series will feature in-depth access to emergency rooms and staff to tell the stories of vacations going terribly wrong, from the daredevil grandfather who fell down a cliff face to the club-goer who had to undergo major reconstructive facial surgery after a mishap at a foam party.

“Our long-standing relationships with the medical teams in the Balearic Islands have delivered us quite exceptional access, and have allowed us to deliver gripping stories rarely seen on screen,” said Denman Rooke, managing director at October Films.

Emergency Abroad is series produced by Jane McGoldrick and executive produced by Denman Rooke for October Films. Rebecca Morris is production manager.
