Hanka Kastelicová (pictured) is to oversee all aspects of HBO Europe’s documentary output in the newly created role of executive producer of documentaries.

Based in Budapest, she will also work closely with HBO Europe’s production centers in Warsaw, Prague and Bucharest.

Kastelicová was previously part of the senior management team producing docs for TV Slovenia, and was most recently commissioning editor and head of the network’s documentary development.

She was also the Slovenian national coordinator for INPUT, the international organization of TV professionals; and a member of the editorial board for documentaries at the Slovenian Film Fund in 2011.

“I am delighted Hanka has agreed to join us as our first designated documentary executive,” said Antony Root, exec VP of original programming and production at HBO Europe. “Her strong editorial, managerial and production skills, together with her enviable reputation and contacts, both locally and internationally, will be a huge asset as we take our documentary output to the next level.”
