Phil Craig is leaving his post as executive producer at London- and DC-based prodco Nutopia to join Australia’s ABC TV as head of factual.

Craig will take up his post in Sydney on October 29, replacing Jennifer Collins, who was appointed head of entertainment last April.

The head of factual role is a combination of the head of entertainment role and the head of documentary position, which was vacated in May when Alan Erson left to work with prodco Essential Media & Entertainment.

“My three years at Nutopia have been thrilling,” said Craig. “It has been a privilege to help Jane Root and her fantastic team create exciting new styles of factual TV…  I’m leaving Nutopia on a high and I wish the company every success.”

“I’d like to thank Phil; he’s one of the world’s great creative talents, and an amazing guy to work with,” added Root. “We’ll all be sorry to see him go, but this is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity and I know he’ll be a great success at ABC TV.”
