ZDF Enterprises taking “Rocket City Rednecks” to MIPCOM

The German distributor is bringing the National Geographic Channel U.S. hit to the international market for the first time at MIPCOM in October.

German distributor ZDF Enterprises is presenting the National Geographic Channel U.S. hit, Rocket City Rednecks, to international markets for the first time at MIPCOM in October.

The factual series is available internationally in both a 20 x 30-minute and 10 x one-hour format.

Produced by Flight 33, the series follows a group of geniuses in Huntsville, Alabama, home to the U.S. Space and Rocket Center, who apply backwoods know-how to science, technology and engineering, and the results include moon vehicles and bomb-proof pickup trucks.

Characters in the series include Travis Taylor, who has a PhD in engineering and top-secret clearance with the U.S. government; and his friends and family members, including Rog, who has a genius IQ of 160; Pete, an optical scientist who designs satellites at the U.S. Space and Rocket Center; and Travis’ dad Charles, one of NASA’s original engineers.

National Geographic Channel U.S. recently announced the series will return for a second season in the fall.
