CABLEready appoints global sales VP

Maurizio Tavares has been hired for the newly created position of vice president, global sales manager, responsible for overseeing the independent distributor's international sales strategy.

Independent distributor CABLEready has appointed Maurizio Tavares to the newly created position of vice president, global sales manager.

Tavares, most recently director of sales, acquisitions and new content development for Brazil’s Rede TV Network, will be tasked with overseeing the company’s international sales strategy and leading its sales staff. He will report directly to CABLEready president and CEO Gary Lico.

Prior to Rede TV, Tavares worked as an international formats sales and acquisitions executive at Fox Television Studios, where he pitched formats such as Temptation Island, Crowned, and Beauty and the Geek to international broadcasters and prodcos, and also evaluated unscripted formats from U.S. producers and acquired scripted and unscripted formats globally for the company.

Tavares also held positions at Walt Disney Television International, working as senior country manager for Disney Channel Brazil and holding exec positions for the company in Italy and Florida.

“His experience in both production and acquisitions provides him with a unique perspective that significantly benefits his role in program sales,” said Lico of Tavares. “Plus, he speaks four languages, which will enable us to broaden our client base.”
