AMC/Sundance Channel Global launches Asian HQ

AMC/Sundance Channel Global has opened offices in Singapore and Hong Kong to serve as its Asian HQ, while also snagging the Asian premiere rights for Brett Morgen's Rolling Stones doc Crossfire Hurricane (pictured).

AMC/Sundance Channel Global has opened a Singapore office, which will house the company’s scheduling and on-air creative services for Asia, while a Hong Kong office will spearhead affiliate operations for the region.

As part of the expansion, the company is conducting an executive search to find someone to take on the head of scheduling position, as well as affiliate marketing positions.

The announcement follows on the heels of the recruitment of Keith Mak to oversee affiliate distribution and marketing for AMC/Sundance’s Asian operations.

In other Sundance Channel news, the channel has acquired the television premiere rights in Asia to Brett Morgen’s Rolling Stones documentary Crossfire Hurricane for 2013-2014, as well as a number of scripted dramas.

Sundance will premiere the 120-minute doc (pictured), which debuts on HBO in the U.S., on VoD to its affiliate partners ahead of its linear launch in Asia.

Other documentary fare acquired for Asia includes the critically acclaimed feature debut from Raw, The Imposter.

“After a tremendous amount of distribution growth and success with our original productions such as Breaking Bad, it is the natural next step for us to augment our localization by establishing both creative and distribution headquarters in Asia,” said Bruce Tuchman, AMC/Sundance Channel Global president. “With highly experienced personnel and world-class resources on the ground, we will move even closer to our audiences and partners, thereby further accelerating our growth.”
