Ukranian commercial channel 1+1 has picked up local production rights for cooking competition show The Taste.

The show, set to air Stateside on ABC with Nigella Lawson and Anthony Bourdain heading up the judging/mentoring team, pits amateur cooks and professional chefs against each other in a battle for culinary supremacy. It was created by Kinetic Content, and is being shopped internationally by Red Arrow International.

“Ukraine is one of the fastest growing TV markets with a strong appetite for original formats,” said David Brook, marketing and development director for 1+1 media. “After the successful adaptation of Hell’s Kitchen and Kitchen Nightmares, 1+1 channel decided to develop this sector further. I have no doubt that The Taste will be a sensation in Ukraine.”

Other territories that have snapped up local production rights to the series include France via M6 and Australia via Nine Network.

Meanwhile, Fox International Channels recently grabbed rights to the U.S. version for India. The series will begin airing there in 2013 on Fox Traveller.
