Krishnendu Majumdar (left) and Richard Yee (right), part of the production team behind An Idiot Abroad, have created Me & You Productions to create comedic talent-fronted documentaries and mockumentaries.

The prodco’s first effort will be the third season of An Idiot Abroad, in association with RiSK Productions for Sky1, to air in the UK on November 30.

An Idiot Abroad, starring Ricky Gervais and Karl Pilkington, airs in the U.S. on Science.

The Me & You Productions team says its output will focus on turning traditional formats on their head and reinventing other genres.

Majumdar’s directing credits include The World’s Smallest Man and Me for Channel 4, Michael Howard: No More Mr Nasty for BBC2 and Coked Up Britain for Sky1. He was the series director of the first series of An Idiot Abroad, and executive produced series two and three.

Yee was the series producer on the first season of An Idiot Abroad, and directed the series finale. He also served as an executive producer and director on the second and third series of the show. He was the series producer on three series of World’s…And Me for Channel 4, and directed The World’s Hairiest Man and Me and The World’s Strongest Child and Me.

He has also directed Splitting Cells for BBC3 and Urban Legends for History Channel.

“We love the crossover between comedy and observational documentaries and with the new company we want to build on the success of An Idiot Abroad with other series that cross these genres,” said Yee.

“We’re unusual in that we have a background in both these worlds, having worked on everything from scripted comedy and animation, to gritty observational documentaries. Our aim is to build on our combined experience in these genres in Me & You’s program output.”
