ZDF Enterprises has appointed Fred Burcksen (pictured) as chief operating officer in an operational restructuring.

The commercial arm of German pubcaster ZDF has restructured into four divisions that will manage rights, sales and distribution issues – from coproductions and co-financing to VoD and merchandising – for specific genres of programming: ZDFE.factual, headed by Ralf Rueckauer; ZDFE.entertainment headed by Sylvia Brucker; ZDFE.junior, headed by Peter Lang; and ZDFE.drama headed by Tasja Abel.

Burcksen, formerly VP of sales, will over see investment and sales in his new role, while chief financial officer Stephan Adrian will continue to oversee commercial business, and president and CEO Alexander Coridass will remain responsible for overall strategy and corporate development of the entire ZDF Enterprises group.

“We at ZDF Enterprises are not only looking back on 20 years of corporate history in 2013, but we shall also be offering our German and international clients and business partners an even better service in the future thanks to the new structure,” Coridass said in a statement.

“For many years now, Fred has been an exceptionally successful, innovative and ‘can-do’ media manager who will help us consolidate our position on the market and contribute to our development.”
