Discovery hires digital media product development SVP

Leslie Grandy, a former exec at Apple, RealNetworks and T-Mobile, has been named SVP of product and development within the company's digital media division.

Discovery Communications has brought on Leslie Grandy as senior vice president of product and development for its digital media division.

Most recently, Grandy was vice president of product and systems development at T-Mobile, where she led the launch of the first Android/Google-developed phone. Prior to that, she served as Apple’s senior director for the Americas online stores, and also served in multiple capacities as a general manager at Real Networks.

At Discovery, she’ll be tasked with driving product development for the digital extensions of Discovery’s U.S. networks, and will oversee their digital product, mobile, development, design and project management teams. She will work out of the company’s New York office.

“With a strong track record of delivering results, Leslie brings the perfect mix of consumer-focused, data-driven and user-centric experience to the team,” said Guhan Selvaretnam, senior vice president, digital media, to whom Grandy will report. “We are thrilled to have her join the Discovery family.”
