Banijay International has renewed its format distribution deal with DR in Denmark and inked a number of Scandinavian deals, including selling the format Whack ‘n Munch to TV2 in Norway.

The DR entertainment format Whack ‘n Munch sees a young urban chef paired with an older hunter as they prepare a meal, after tracking and killing their main ingredient. The 8 x one-hour series will air on TV2 this month in primetime.

Two seasons of Whack ‘n Munch have aired so far on Denmark broadcaster DR1. With the renewal of the distribution deal with DR, Banijay International will continue to distribute titles such as Comedy on the Edge, in which a stand up comic visits small towns and national institutions and after two days does a stand-up routine based on what he’s learned; and Sold!, where two teams of real estate agents try to guess prices of recently sold houses.

Whack ‘n Munch is a fun and original format with a strong message that we think will appeal to our audience and really spice up the primetime schedule,” said Fredrik Sandahl, commissioning editor at TV2 Norway.
