Discovery Networks International is rolling out entertainment channel TLC in the UK and Ireland, starting April 30.

Airing on the Sky, Virgin Media and BT Vision platforms, the channel will premiere shows from the U.S., including Here Comes Honey Boo Boo, and a number of series featuring UK stars, including Holly Valance in Ultimate Shopper,  Dawn O’Porter in Undercover Mums and Lisa Snowdon in Your Style in His Hands (pictured above).

TLC UK and Ireland will focus on fashion, family life, little known communities, alternative lives and amazing people and cultures.

The launch marks a return for the TLC brand in the UK. A British version of the channel was originally launched in 1994, before subsequently being rebranded as Discovery Home and Leisure, and then Discovery Real Time. According to Discovery, “millions have been invested” in the relaunch, however a specific sum has not be cited.

“TLC is a unique entertainment channel that brings together a huge range of characters from the UK and U.S.,” said Susanna Dinnage, SVP and general manager at Discovery Networks UK.

“It is full of stories that will get people talking and we hope it will become part of the rich and varied TV culture in the UK. It is unlike any other channel in the UK and will provide advertisers with an exciting new opportunity to target female audiences.”
