Digital distribution platform Yekra launched a self-distribution service on Thursday (May 9) with a slate of documentary features that includes the digital premieres of Tattoo Nation (pictured) and Sirius.

The service, which soft-launched last year and offers DRM-protected rentals, has raised $3 million in venture capital funding from angel investors Maurice Gallagher and UK’s Bray Capital. The platform uses bespoke AffiliateConnect technology, which allows studios, TV networks and filmmakers to build online audiences by genre or topic.

The service allows users to set price points for various platforms, such as connected TVs, web and smartphones, and generate networks of affiliate websites for digital distribution.

Films premiering this week include the skin art doc Tattoo Nation and Sirius, a doc about UFO clean-energy conspiracy theories. Other docs featured on the site include Hot Flash Havoc, Thrive and Occupy Love.
