Zodiak Media has licensed extreme singing competition format Killer Karaoke (pictured) into the Czech Republic and the Netherlands.

Zodiak Nederland will produce Killer Karaoke for RTL5 in the Netherlands for a May 16 premiere, while the Czech Republic’s Barrandov TV has commissioned Real TV to produce the format, which will air in early 2014.

Inspired by the Zodiak Media show Sing If You Can, the Killer Karaoke format has sold to 50 countries so far, with deals in Latin America and Asia to be announced shortly. In addition, the finished format from truTV, hosted by Steve-O, has sold to more than 100 countries.

Zodiak-owned prodco Zodiak Mastiff produces the Russian version, which launched on U-TV in March.

Killer Karaoke is exactly what the market is looking for at the moment; laugh-out-loud entertainment with high impact moments which audiences can easily latch on to,” said Barnaby Shingleton, Zodiak Rights’ head of entertainment.
