ABC Family orders spelling bee game show

Thinkfactory Media-produced game show Spell-Mageddon, which premieres in July, challenges spelling bee contestants to spell words correctly in the face of amusing distractions.

U.S. net ABC Family has green-lit the one-hour game show Spell-Mageddon.

The series, which will begin airing this summer, challenges spelling bee contestants to spell increasingly difficult words correctly in the face of amusing distractions.

The series was created by Thinkfactory Media’s Adam Reed, Adam Freeman and Leslie Greif. They will also executive produce alongside Jeff Krask and Michael Canter.

It will begin airing on Wednesday, July 24 at 9 p.m., following Melissa and Joey and Baby Daddy.

Spell-Mageddon is the latest addition to the youth-skewing network’s unscripted slate, which includes recently greenlit docusoap The Vineyard and comedic reality show Dancing Fools.
