The CBC has announced that Canadian actor Carlo Rota will be the new host of reality format Recipe to Riches, replacing former host Jesse Palmer.

The pubcaster announced it had picked up the amateur cooking competition show from Shaw Media when it unveiled its winter 2014 lineup in May.

Rota is perhaps best known for his role on the CBC comedy series Little Mosque on the Prairie as well as for hosting The Great Canadian Food Show. His father is Dante Rota, an internationally renowned chef.

The Canadian version of Recipe to Riches is produced by Toronto’s Temple Street Productions, which has a long track record with the CBC, having produced such unscripted shows for the net as Over the Rainbow and How Do You Solve a Problem Like Maria?
