Discovery Fit & Health to air “Pregnant Behind Bars”

The two-parter (pictured), from 20 West Productions, follows pregnant women serving time in a special division of Chicago's Cook County Jail, and will premiere on August 22.

U.S. cable network Discovery Fit & Health is to debut the two-part special Pregnant Behind Bars (pictured) on August 22.

The two-parter focuses on pregnant inmates booked into a special treatment division at Chicago’s Cook Count Jail that caters to women with addiction and mental health issues.

Cameras follow the women as they take parenting classes, prepare to give birth and attempt to reconnect with their children and families in what the network bills as an exploration of “the emotional, psychological and physical effects of pregnancy within prison walls.”
