Cisneros appoints new CEO

Adriana Cisneros, responsible for the creation of Cisneros Interactive, represents the third generation to lead the company, which owns Venezuelan network Venevision and distributor Venevision International.

Global media company Cisneros Group has appointed Adriana Cisneros as its new CEO.

The new appointment marks the third generation of the Cisneros family to lead the company established by Venezuelan entrepreneur Gustavo Cisneros, who remains on board as chairman. Among Cisneros Group’s holdings are Venezuelan broadcast network Venevision and Miami-based distribution arm Venevision International.

Adriana Cisneros, with the company for seven years, was responsible for the creation of the company’s digital media division, Cisneros Interactive. Previously, as vice chairman and director of strategy, she also developed new lines of business for the company by forging strategic global partnerships.

The company’s previous CEO and co-chairman, Steven Bandel, was remain in the co-chairman role.

“The most challenging part of my job will be to continue making the company grow at the speed my father did,” she said in a statement. “Its success is owed in part to his extraordinary ability to almost immediately forecast the result of a business deal, and in part also thanks to his 30-year partnership with Steven Bandel, a great CEO who will continue as a member of my team of advisors.”
