U.S. cable network GSN has tapped Michael Levitt Productions to make Skin Wars, a competition show on body painting.

The eight-episode series looks for the top body painters in the country, and premieres on GSN in 2014.

Skin Wars features eliminations centered around body painting challenges, including camouflage, graffiti, multiple models, animal art, and more.

“Body painting is in the zeitgeist, popping up everywhere from the streets to magazine covers to national ad campaigns,” said Amy Introcaso-Davis, EVP of programming and development for GSN. “It is a world filled with fascinating characters and astonishing art. As GSN doubles its programming efforts in the next year, we are thrilled to have Skin Wars as our first original entry into the arced competition arena.”

“Artists have always known that the human body is a work of art—now Skin Wars takes that concept to a whole new level,” added Michael Levitt, executive producer.

The series is executive produced by Michael Levitt and Jill Goularte, and produced by Robin Barcus Slonina – a body painter and owner of Skin City Body Painting in Las Vegas.
