ITV taking Keshet’s “Rising Star” to the UK

ITV Studios and Keshet International will coproduce the UK version of the interactive talent show format (pictured), which debuted on Israel's Keshet Broadcasting earlier this year.

Britain’s ITV is the lastest broadcaster to snap up Keshet International’s interactive talent show format Rising Star (pictured).

ITV Studios and Keshet International will coproduce the UK version of the show, which gives audiences the power to choose the winner of a singing competition in real time. Viewers vote via an app and hopeful contestants receive immediate feedback as they are performing. If a contestant secures 70% of viewers’ and judges’ votes, a screen in the studio rises to reveal the winner.

Networks in Hungary, Italy, France, Russia, Germany, and the Nordics have since picked up the format and an American version of the series will begin airing on ABC next summer.

Rising Star was originally produced by Tedy Productions for Keshet Broadcasting in Israel.
