Renewed and returning: “The Fabulous Life,” “Wahlburgers”

In this week’s round-up of renewed and returning series, A&E Network orders more Wahlburgers (pictured), Animal Planet goes for Ice Cold Gold, and VH1 checks in again on The Fabulous Life.

In the UK, UKTV channel Yesterday is enlisting Like a Shot Entertainment for a second season of Forbidden History. The 6 x 60-minute series will follow presenter Jamie Theakston across the globe as he searches for treasure beneath the lost city of Petra, investigates a theory that the Nazis were building spacecraft, and more.

Forbidden History returns to Yesterday in the fourth quarter.

In the U.S., A&E Network has ordered 18 more episodes of Wahlburgers, the series that goes behind the scenes with the Wahlberg family, as they look to expand their burger restaurant business. The series premiered on January 22, and is produced by 44 Blue Productions, in association with Closest to the Hole Productions, Leverage Entertainment and Donnie D Productions.

Over on Animal Planet, Ice Cold Gold returns for a second season on March 6 at 10 p.m. EST/PST.

The Moxie Pictures series follows seven American miners who band together to strike it rich at a ruby deposit in Greenland, racing against the elements.

The cast of miners – including Americo DiSantis, John Self, Jesse Feldman, Josh Feldman, Zach “Gator” Schoose, Chad Watkins and team leader Eric Drummond – must deal with 24-hour sunlight, glaciers, unknown wildlife and more.

Also lining up for a second season is CNBC’s The Profit, starring entrepreneur Marcus Lemonis as he tries to help eight small businesses. The upcoming 8 x one-hour season – which sees Lemonis helping a high-end used car dealership, a meat wholesaler, gym owners and more – will premiere on February 25 at 10 p.m. EST/PST.

The Profit is produced by Machete Productions.

VH1 has scheduled a new season of The Fabulous Life for March 5 at 10 p.m. EST/PST, and the upcoming hour-long episodes will include interviews and stats to highlight just how much this season’s celebrities are living the high life.

The Sharp Entertainment series will feature the lifestyles of Kanye West, Kim Kardashian and baby North; Nicki Minaj;  Beyoncé and Jay Z; and Justin Bieber.

In Canada, OLN has signed up for a second season of Wild Things with Dominic Monaghan, airing on March 25.

The Lord of the Rings and Lost actor goes on a new quest to find interesting and frightening creatures from around the globe – including Brazil, Zambia, Japan, Thailand and Australia – in the 10 x one-hour series, produced by Cream Productions and Wildfire Television.
