WE tv is letting audiences experience Mary Mary stars Erica and Tina Campbell’s reactions to their show’s third season with a new after-show format called WatchIt With (pictured), airing immediately after the regular episodes.
The show is two episodes into the third season, but going forward, new episodes of Mary Mary airing at 9 p.m. EST on Thursdays will be followed immediately by WatchIt With at 10 p.m. The second screening of the show will feature the Campbells on screen in a picture-in-picture window for the whole encore episode, providing a commentary of what is happening as the show unfolds.
In each WatchIt With episode, the stars will occasionally pause the primary screen and start a full-screen discussion with viewers before switching back to the original format. The WatchIt With episodes are 90 minutes in length, with the last 30 minutes dedicated to a full discussion while the primary screen is paused.
“WatchIt With combines aspects of traditional reunion- and after-shows and takes it a step further by adding dimension through the fresh and immediate perspectives of the stars portrayed,” said Marc Juris, WE tv’s president, in a statement. “This new format is designed to increase viewer retention and amplify audience flow to the network, driven by the authentic character responses to a show’s premiere.”
Mary Mary and WatchIt With is produced by Entertainment One (eOne) Television and exec produced by Tara Long, John Morayniss, Eric Hoberman and Howie Miller. Lauren Gellert, senior VP of original production and development, and Kate Farrell serve as the executive producers for WE tv.
