UK broadcaster Channel 4′s youth channel E4 has commissioned the 6 x 60-minute series Made in Chelsea: New York, a spin-off of the popular show, set to air in August. (Pictured: Made in Chelsea cast)

The series, produced by NBCUniversal International Television Production unit Monkey, will see the fashionable, champagne-toting Chelsea group bring their parties and drama to New York. The summer spin-off will follow series seven of Made in Chelsea, which airs in April, with series eight of the show set for the fall.

“New York has a scene buzzing and sophisticated enough to rival Chelsea, so it feels like the next natural step,” said Sarah Dillistone, executive producer for Monkey, in a statement. “We’re going to see the cast out of their bubble for the first time since the show began, and I’m sure the result will be nothing like what we’ve seen before.”

Made in Chelsea: New York was commissioned by Channel 4 commissioning editor Jilly Pearce and head of formats Dominic Bird. It will be executive produced by Monkey’s Dillistone and Ros Coward.
