London-based distributor TVF International has acquired the rights to prank format Psych Out! from Brain Games producer Atomic Entertainment.

The format – billed as a “hidden camera prank show with science at its core” – tackles unsavory characters in need of a reality check.

It sees the characters being targeted by a behavioural scientist, who instructs a team of illusionists and con men on how to teach these individuals a lesson. Prank scenarios include bad tippers getting arrested for running “fake credit cards,” and bosses who constantly criticize other people’s dress codes encountering nothing but naked people all day.

“We are really excited to be launching this for the first time internationally, outside of the U.S.” said Yael Shaoulian, acquisitions exec for TVF, in a statement. “The format is the perfect marriage between popular science and top entertainment.”
