U.S. cable network Travel Channel will premiere the reality series Hotel Amazon next month.
Produced by Crazy Legs, the six x one-hour show follows childhood friends Rusty Johnson and Stephen Jablonski as they set out to build a resort hotel in the Peruvian Amazon.
Johnson is a wildlife lecturer and humanitarian, while Jablonski is a firefighter from Kingston, New York who is bankrolling the operation using his winnings from the game show Wheel of Fortune.
Throughout the show, “the friendship will be tested as they struggle to adapt to a wilderness filled with relentless downpours, thieving monkeys, limited essential supplies and more than just a few peculiar locals,” the network said in a statement.
The series was announced as part of Travel’s development slate last spring.
The executive producer for Crazy Legs is Tom Cappello. Patrick McManamee is exec producing for Travel.
Hotel Amazon begins airing on March 9 at 10 p.m. EST/PST.
