Richard E. Grant (Withnail and I) is such a mesmerizing on-screen presence that he could captivate an audience with a dramatic reading from a phone book. Thus, it’s not surprising that as the presenter of this series exploring the “seven deadly sins,” he throws himself into the subject matter with characteristic aplomb. The program, however, doesn’t explore the sins – lust, greed, et cetera – through the lens of human experience, but through that of the animal kingdom. Slothful bears, lustful roosters and other badly behaving animals are featured, with scientific research and the latest discoveries in animal behavior illuminating the reasons behind the “sins.”
