PBS Int’l sends “Emperor” to South America, Europe

Networks in South America and Europe have acquired the Ken Burns-exec produced documentary series Cancer: The Emperor of All MaladiesĀ (pictured).

Distributor PBS International has sold the six-hour, three-part series to Brazil’s Globosat, Latin American satellite broadcaster DirecTV, Finnish pubcaster YLE and Portugal’sĀ TVI.

Directed by Barak Goodman and presented by Burns, the documentary is based on Siddhartha Mukherjee’s Pulitzer Prize-winning book The Emperor of all Maladies: A Biography of Cancer and covers the first documented appearances of the disease through the current attempts to cure it.

The series, which began airing on PBS in the United State this week, will be part of the PBS International catalog at MIPTV in Cannes this month.
