Woodcut Media adds Patel

Former A+E Networks UK commissioning editor Jinal Patel is the latest hire at London-based documentary and factual indie prodco Woodcut Media.

Patel takes up the role of executive producer effective immediately, and reports to Kate Beal, chief executive officer and joint creative director.

Based out of the London office, Patel will work alongside Beal and Woodcut’s joint creative director Derren Lawford on the development slate and commissioned projects.

She is also tasked with assisting in the expansion and development of the prodco’s international output.

Woodcut Media beefed up its team in January when it appointed Jenni Day as head of production.

Most recently the senior commissioning and acquisitions editor at A+E Networks UK, Patel’s remit included the Crime & Investigation Network and Lifetime in the UK and across EMEA. She is credited with acquiring The Real Housewives of New Jersey and executive producing Britain’s Darkest Taboos and Crimes that Shook Britain.

“As Woodcut continues to grow, we have been looking to enhance our creative leadership and expand our team,” said Beal in a statement. “Jinal not only shares our company’s values and passion for excellent program-making, but also brings with her substantial expertise in the crime genre, which will no doubt bolster our existing strong track record in that area.”
