British multi-channel broadcaster UKTV is teaming with English actor-comedian Jason Manford (pictured) in a series that will see ordinary people investing their own money in entrepreneurial pursuits.
Set to air on the UKTV-owned cable channel Dave, the Liberty Bell Television-produced series The Money Pit - presented by Manford - is to showcase budding entrepreneurs, inventors, artisans and tech creators pitted against one another as amateur investors decide which enterprise to back.
The Money Pit will also tap into the growing trend of crowdfunding. To ramp up the tension, financiers keen on spotting the next big thing will be allowed last-minute movements of money as investors converge around one entrepreneur looking for funding while abandoning another.
“You don’t have to be rich and nasty to spot a good investment opportunity – this is all about the wit and the wisdom of the crowd,” said Jamie Isaacs, series executive producer, in a statement.
Commissioned by Catherine Catton, senior commissioning editor for UKTV, The Money Pit is exec produced by Isaacs and Michele Carlisle with Pat Doyle serving as series producer.
