The PBS-supported World Channel has set June airdates for Lori PetchersA Self-Made Man and P.J. Raval’s Before You Know It (pictured).

The two docs will premiere across the doc strand ‘America Reframed’ – a collaboration and copro between the World Channel, WGBH/Boston and American Documentary Inc., which also produces the ‘POV’ doc strand on PBS. Each film exposes the distress faced by LGBT communities despite increasing legislative change and shifting attitudes in recent years.

A Self-Made Man focuses on Tony Ferrailo, a certified life coach and transgender youth advocate in New Haven, Connecticut, who provides guidance and support to youth and their families as they embark on life-changing sex change operations.

Meanwhile, Before You Know It details the lives of gay senior citizens who have witnessed immeasurable change in their lifetimes, from the Stonewall Riots in 1969 and gay liberation to the HIV/AIDS pandemic in the 1980s and gay marriage rights. The film documents the lives of three LGBT Americans over the age of 55 who have become pioneers in the “out” generation of elders.

A Self-Made Man will air on June 23 at 8 p.m. EST/PST, while Before You Know It will premiere the following week on June 30 at 8 p.m. EST/PST.
